U11’s do the Double!

This year has been a very successful season for the U11’s, winning both the league and Cup.

In the U11 Borders League, Haverhill only lost one game during the course of the season and came top with 104 points.

The Cup Final game on Sunday 30th June saw a very close game between Haverhill and Western Colville, watched by a sizable crowd.

Batting first Western Colville set a very good score of 296. Haverhill seemed to have the game well in hand at 282 with 6 over remaining, but some very good bowling and fielding saw several wicket falls for very few runs. In the end it came down to the very last ball with Haverhill 1 run ahead, Western Colville needing to take a wicket. In the end, Haverhill managed to scrape over the line for a 1 run win.

Both teams played a very high standard of cricket and provides a great foundation for both cricket clubs moving forward.

Chris Silverwood (England’s Head Bowling Coach) assisted Peter Smith (Borders Junior Coaching Cricket Club Welfare Officer) in handing out the medals and trophies. Peter is retiring from his role this year and we at Haverhill would like to thank him for his many years of service.
